The accumulation of Chandra and NuSTAR data on AGNs over the past many years has provided the community with a number of interesting "surprises" with regard to the structure of the broad-line region and clumpy torus and has spawned a number of increasingly complexity of ray-tracing models to interpret the obtained spectra. I will describe a handful of studies being carried out by my group at PUC-Chile, using Chandra imaging to investigate the extent of spatially resolved X-ray emission around AGNs and NuSTAR spectral studies aiming to understand and characterize the spectral curvature seen in the X-ray reflection components of many local obscured AGNs.
