Radar is an effective method to detect the properties of invisible subsurface underneath. Several Radar scientific payloads have been arranged among Chinese lunar and Mars exploration. A dual-frequency lunar penetrating radar onboard the Chang’s-3 rover had made a successfully observation. The same radar instrument will be installed on the Chang’e-4 rover that will be launched in 2018. Also, another radar array onboard Chang’e-5 has been calibrated during the ground tests and will be launched in 2017. For Chinese Mars exploration project, there will be two radar instruments on both of the orbiter and the rover. We expect they could make excellent performance in Chinese planetary pursue.
